Emilee Jane delivers her genre-expansive debut EP, "GLASS"

Fresh off the release of her long-awaited debut EP titled GLASS, Emilee Jane has come out of the gate with a total winner. Please read on for our full review of the record, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.

Currently based out of the United Kingdom and putting on memorable acoustic sets since 2017, Emilee Jane has finally shared a collection of songs she’s calling GLASS. Seriously eclectic in its endeavor to touch on so many musical genres, we’ve quickly fallen in love with her diverse sound on the EP. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll undoubtedly give this one a fully focused listen.

With help on the production side from local musician and sibling Jack Little, the two have pulled out all the stops to create total greatness. Coming in at 5 total tracks, spanning right around 19 minutes, Emilee has held back nothing and torn down all the walls of music. Whilst she’s definitely centered this record around her dynamic vocals, ultimately the complexities of it all come through in the instrumentation that never cease to keep the listener guessing as to what’s coming next.

From funk all the way to blues, it was actually a little bit jarring to see how well she made everything work in just five songs. To be honest, we’d love to hear a follow up from her that even just takes one of the ideas on the record or even creates an entire album from songs sounding like “Crystallise” or “Stupidface”. We have the sneaking suspicion that if Emilee lent her vocals to guest on any type song, she’d find a way to make it work, and that’s why we think GLASS works so well together as a whole.

While it felt like there were infinite moments on the EP that stood out, really the highlight that we’d like to get across is just how immersed we were so quickly. For just 19 short minutes, Emilee was able to distract our focus from the world and tilt it towards some seriously impressive sounds. Sincerely, we can’t wait for everyone out there to check this out, it’s going to make your day.
