Dave Anson excels on his transcendent film score for "My Over There"

Simply inspiring from beginning to end, Dave Anson has just released his wonderful original soundtrack for the film My Over There. Please keep reading for our glowing review of the EP, as well as a much needed background on the artist.

Starring Emmy-award winning and Tony-nominated actress Penny Fuller, Dave Anson has pulled out all of the stops in creating an instrumental that transcends sound for My Over There. Historically in the past, film scores haven’t been a focal point of our music reviews, but having listened through just once, this was 100% the exception due to its soaring beauty. Whether you’ve watched the film or not, we’re highly recommending everyone out there give this piece a listen as soon as possible.

Recorded between Glass Sound Studios in England and with session musicians in Los Angeles, all involved clearly gave maximal effort in fulfilling Dave’s vision. On the background of it all, the composer let us know that “one of the main concepts behind this score is 'crossed paths that never meet', which mirrors the film's storyline”. He particularly crafted this to make a point where the pianos and violins create melodies, but never meet when they need to in order to mirror the anguish of the film. The attention to detail is so unbelievably vivid, you can’t help but not appreciate the greatness that is brimming throughout its entirety.

While My Over There is just four songs in length, Dave immediately piques the listener’s interest and manages to hold your attention through it all. We’ll be honest, in the past when it comes to purely instrumental songs such as these, the lack of lyricism or various attention grabbers makes us lose interest for one reason or another. In this case though, the complete opposite has happened, and for good reason. The overwhelming amount of passion, emotion, drama, and suspense presented through just four songs was downright awe-inspiring. We haven't seen the film but plan to, and can only imagine how much more impactful these works of art are going to be with a visual component. On their own they’re sublime, but we’re making it a point to check out the film as soon as possible.

For now, we are urging everyone out there to listen to this! Go ahead and check out the links below to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with all major news from Dave Anson.
