Daphzie over delivers on striking debut single, "Be Here"

Officially releasing on July 20th, 2022, we got the special opportunity to preview Daphzie’s debut single “Be Here”. Plain and simple, you’re not going to want to miss out on this one, so please check out our full in-depth review and background on the artist below.

Currently based out of Newcastle, Australia, Daphzie is quickly solidifying herself as a serious powerhouse within the indie rock space. Giving listeners a taste of what’s to come off of her upcoming EP IDG2LA&TATWSH, her first delivery is an emphatic and anthemic track called “Be Here” that has more than surpassed our expectations. Hitting euphoric vocal highs and infusing a varied instrumentation, she’s checked all of our boxes for what we’d consider to be a stellar single.

On the background of it all, “Be Here” attempts to describe “the part of the story where you’re almost through the storm and trying to find yourself again”. Life is so full of uncertainties and unfortunate setbacks, but with lyrics that define the moment and ultimately try to stay optimistic, she’s giving a platform for so many that feel the same but probably don’t know how to put those thoughts into words. While we experienced so many highlights throughout our many listens, a main stand out had to have been Daphzie’s dynamic vocal range and the emphasis she puts on sincerity with her voice.

Another major factor is just how well produced the song is, and now knowing that she self-produced it in her bedroom, it just makes it that much more impressive. With help from Gareth Hudson and Healey Olsen to put the final touches on the track, it’s a debut single that doesn’t need any critiques or changes. In the indie rock space nowadays, it feels like everything is a reorganization of what the last band did, but this actually aims to think outside the box and start anew. Featuring bombastic drums that felt right up front in the mix, we can already see this becoming a consistent listen when we need a nice dose of energy to get through the day.

With all that being said though, Daphzie is setting herself up for serious success in the future. With a ton more on the way, we’re urging everyone out there to click the links below to listen, follow along, and of course to stay tuned for all major news.
