Ashton Butler mesmerizes with his vocals on “You Only Love Me When You're Drinking”

Capitalizing off the success of his last single, Ashton Butler has made a valiant return with another mesmerizingly catchy single, “You Only Love Me When You're Drinking”. Keep reading for a closer look into the track, in addition to a background on this emerging artist.

Currently making waves within the Nashville country music scene, Ashton Butler’s freshly released single “You Only Love Me When You're Drinking” is everything we’d hoped it would be. His last one “Bottle and a Broken Heart” was wonderful in its own right, but he’s continuing to evolve his sound and etch out a signature feel for what we expect in the future. Needless to say though, it’s a song we’re highly recommending and urging everyone to give a spin as soon as possible.

Recorded in West Nashville at Hidden Creek Music and mixed and mastered by studio owner Kevin Grenier, Ashton has meticulously blended a traditional country sound with something that still boasts modern elements. Considering he’s been writing music since the age of 8, we can only assume that it comes easy, or at least he’s projected that message thus far. His vocals are right at the forefront in the mix and delicately lead the listener through a strong case of storytelling within his songwriting. Although a major milestone on this track as a whole is the expansive atmosphere through the production; a sincere recommendation would be to listen to this with a nice pair of headphones to really emphasize those moments.

At just a tad under four minutes in length, Ashton has also allowed for the song to breathe in a way that lets the listener settle down into the aura and mood being evoked. Obviously there’s a story being told here which is actually quite relatable if you’ve been in that situation, but even his delivery has you hanging on every last word. The vocals are sweet, sultry, warm, and inviting and 100% the reason to do a deeper exploration on the rest of his music. Country fans everywhere are going to love this undoubtedly, but we won’t be surprised if it captures a whole new audience who are looking to dip their toes into the genre.
