Dallin Applebaum previews "Ghosttown, USA" off of upcoming album
Leading with her expressive and downright dynamic vocals, Dallin Applebaum has blown us away with the release of “Ghosttown, USA”. Keep reading for our glowing review of the track, as well as a much needed background on this artist.
Currently representing the music scene in Nashville, Dallin Applebaum is an alternative songwriter who’s been specializing in melodic piano-based music. On her newest single titled “Ghosttown, USA”, she’s put those songwriter skills to the test in creating an imagery-filled display of emotion that takes the listener on a visual journey. Paired with a compelling instrumentation and climactic highs, we immediately fell in love with this song on our initial listen. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to enjoy her music, this is the ideal starting point to dig in.
Serving as the third single off of her upcoming album Grey Matters, the record is shaping up to become something incredibly special as the big day comes closer. We’ve now had the opportunity to listen to the first two tracks, and we adored them, but this one spoke to us. Somewhere between indie folk with glimmers of rock, we did feel that “Ghosttown, USA” went ahead and transcended genre almost completely. You’re hit right from the get go with Dallin’s voice setting the tone for what’s to come, but as the instrumentation begins to build up throughout, it ends up exploding in sound as it hits the peak. On the journey there though, you find yourself hanging on every word attempting to piece the puzzle together. The sonic soundscape that eventually forms is simply breathtaking, adding such a cool and unique complexity to the whole of the track.
As Grey Matters inches closer to its release, we already know we’ll be coming back to spin the first three tracks. Through each song you end up picking apart the passages that you enjoy the most, but for us it’s hard not to say that Dallin’s voice is the consistent thing that sticks out the most. You’ll realize it for yourselves once you hit the play button, but her ability to not only control the situation but take the listener on a ride through her words is extremely impressive.
