Curse of Lono tease "So Damned Beautiful" off of upcoming LP
Teasing yet another mind bending single off their upcoming LP People in Cars, Curse of Lono are continuing on in the right direction with the release of “So Damned Beautiful”. Read on for our full review of the track, in addition to a background on this unique project.
Curse of Lono is the project of Felix Bechtolsheimer in which he’s showing the darker side of his songwriting, all the while keeping things extremely interesting on the composition side. Featuring Tess Parks on the shared vocals, this song has toed the line of a vast amount of genres that we barely know what to label it. With that being said though, it’s beauty doesn’t need labeling, and we highly recommend you check it out for yourselves.
Says Felix on the background of the track, “I wrote the song from the point of view of the guy, who I didn't know, of that dirty weekend, and that overdose. When you OD on heroin you do feel pretty great until it goes wrong, so that stuff came back into the picture.” You’ll have to make the connection within the lyrics of course, but it always helps a ton to get the origins from the artist. We really can’t emphasize enough just how many interesting tones are being represented on “So Damned Beautiful”.
On the vocals side, Felix and Tess play their own parts in the story by almost giving a spoken word-like performance. The instrumentation in the background feels almost minimized so that the listener can directly hone in on the story being told. Taking on the role of the antihero in the story is Felix and Tess Parks is his “grainy, traumatised paramour”.
With more music on the way and the first two singles of the album cycle already being released, this project has piqued our interest in the most confounding way. We adore when artists create music that resembles something so personal to them, but that also mirrors the feelings and vibe within the sounds presented. While we can’t wait to explore more for ourselves, we do once again recommend you check out this song and everything else that’s on the way. Big things are on the way for Curse of Lono.
