Soran experiments on mind bending single, "SPACEBOY"
Said to be his favorite release yet, Soran’s newest single “SPACEBOY” is certainly worth making that judgement for yourself too. We are loving this one! Read on for our full in-depth look at the track, in addition to a background on the artist.
Released via Universal Music Canada, Soran’s newest titled “SPACEBOY” is the ideal futuristic sound that’s a great jumping off point for what to expect in the future. Taking control of the production and experimenting in ways that he never has before, this is a look from Soran we weren’t expecting, but are currently embracing with wide open arms. Needless to say, we cannot wait for everyone out there to get their ears on this song.
On the background of the song, Soran is honoring his late mother and his roots on “SPACEBOY” by having his name written in Japanese on the artwork of the single. Written and recorded by Soran, but helped out on the production side by his frequent collaborator Connor Seidel, the two have put something together that we can only call special. While of course the production on the song is top notch and phenomenal, the structure of it at all is what really took us by surprise the most.
We’ll recommend right now you give this one a listen with a nice pair of headphones, because there’s so many subtleties we wouldn’t want you missing out on. The special feeling of this song for us came from the timing. If that doesn’t quite make sense, try to make connections with the minor pauses that Soran takes within his vocal delivery in order to create a sense of suspense and drama. It adds so much complexity to it at all and really makes him stand out to the rest of the pack. The emphasis here seems to be on the songwriting, but the way he actually communicates it all is what put us over the edge in loving “SPACEBOY”.
Soran has so clearly been on a roll in 2021 with all his single releases, but we’re fairly certain this is his best yet. It’s setting a precedent for what to expect in the future and we sincerely can’t wait to hear it all.
