Amortentia delivers highly relatable 2nd single, "Champagne Socialist"
On just his second officially released single, the project of Amortentia is already turning heads and making waves. We are loving his latest offering “Champagne Socialist”! Read on for our full analysis of the track.
Making music from his brother’s old bedroom, the setting doesn’t even matter, because the end product has been nothing short of amazing. This new project coming from Tim Mason is called Amortentia and his second single “Champagne Socialist” is a psychedelic pop thriller that will have you both dancing around and making connections with his complex lyricism. Without a doubt, we are highly recommending you give this one a listen.
“Champagne Socialist” is a critique of “false activism and the manner in which society lauds superficial professions to the detriment of others”. With there being such a massive emphasis on this touchy subject, we were actually so excited learning of the song’s origins because it’s about time a song was written about the ridiculousness of putting on a constant fake show.
Inspired by Raga Rock, Amortentia has still managed to originally infuse a whole lot of creativity and dreaminess into the overall sound. We’re always beyond impressed when an individual manages to write, record, and produce by themselves. In this case though, he’s gone above and beyond in creating something that is relatable to our society, yet catchy in its tones and sounds. As lovers of everything psych ourselves, we tend to judge a bit harder within the genre, however he truly has impressed us on all fronts.
The inclusion of his semi-droney vocal delivery, the spaciness of it all, and the atmospheric elements included made for the perfect introduction to Amortentia’s music. As mentioned, he’s got two songs out so far including this one. We did listen to “Rainstorm” and thoroughly enjoyed it too, so if you’re in the mood, make sure to check out both for all the good vibes.
