Chris Koehn gets personal on latest track, "Live Alive"

Musician and architect, Chris Koehn, began making music as an introspective grieving process when his brother passed away. Through his music and lyrics he’s creating awareness as a constant reminder to enjoy the present, the now, and to value and appreciate that nothing is permanent and death can come anytime. On his EP Live From Home, the artist digs into these complex topics through even more idealistic compositions.
On “Live Alive” specifically, the artist has let us know that musically it was inspired by Joseph Arthur´s In The Sun. Even better though is that the single artwork for this track is actually an X-ray of his skull. The package that Chris has put together is nothing short of amazing, but considering that this was our first foray into the music of the artist, we can confidently say that we’re happily going to strap in for the wild ride that we hope he’ll continue to present us with.
At just a glimmer over four and a half minutes in run time, Koehn opens up this somber song with a repeating guitar riff, until his gentle vocals enter the mix and the track begins to take shape. Instrumentally it’s quite vibrant, but the focus of the matter is really on the lyrics and deep themes being covered from start to finish. In addition to everything sounding outstanding, it had us sit and think for a minute on why this was created and how we live our own lives.
We couldn’t help but check out the remaining teasing singles that have been shared by Koehn so far ahead of the official release for Live From Home. To no surprise it turns out that everything he’s coming up with and sharing is just as good as the last listen. For the music listeners out there who rely and derive joy from imagery filled lyricism and personal life experiences, we highly recommend listening as soon as possible.
