Cat Calabrese displays commanding vocals on single, "Scared Of Me"

Currently representing the Cleveland music scene, Cat Calabrese has stepped out on her own and is shining bright in her own musical spotlight. Mixing a dark pop sound with heavy tones that could be considered punk, she’s a singer and songwriter who’s opened up and is telling a personal story in her own words. We’re loving her latest “Scared Of Me” and confidently think you will too.
Written by Cat and co-produced by DJ London Bridges, L8niteSasuke, and 15x platinum and Emmy award winning, Jim Wirt (Incubus, Gwen Stefani, Fiona Apple), “Scared Of Me” is a “dynamic break-up anthem in which Cat channels raw emotion into a powerhouse vocal performance”. She’s successfully managed to mingle juxtaposed genres on the production side of things, but without a doubt, the vocal performance is what has stuck with us since the beginning.
The best part is that we can expect more from Cat Calabrese for the rest of this year as well. As her debut saw the light of day in March, she’s just starting to pursue what we think will be an extremely fruitful musical career. What sold us was the confidence that is exuding on the track from start to finish. Cat has this feel about her that lets the listener know she’s supposed to be up there singing and that we’re lucky enough to be listening.
At just a shade under three and a half minutes in run time, the track certainly doesn’t overstay its welcome either. Instead of prolonging the inevitable, Cat has laid it out on the line and put the best parts of the song forward instead of needlessly drawing things out. Truly, there isn’t a negative thing we could say here, other than the next single needs to be released ASAP so we can give more proper listens.
