Canon Hill tear it up on synth-driven single, "Hotel Belfar"

Following up their debut record with a fiery new single titled “Hotel Belfar”, Canon Hill have struck gold with the release of “Hotel Belfar”. Please read on for our full review of this incredible track, as well as a background on the band as well.

Founded by Ben Hayden and Logan Tichnor when they were just 13, Canon Hill have been steadily releasing interesting and innovative tunes into the universe since their demo EP Darn It in 2016. Since then, it’s been hit after hit, and honestly, “Hotel Belfar” is a welcomed track that fits perfectly in their growing discography. Right off the bat, we are highly recommending you give it a spin!

With their second album set to release in August 2021, we can only assume that this track will be a lead off single of what’s to come. Kicking things off here with a synth driven sound and glimmers of country pop, you can audibly feel and hear the immense amount of genre influence featured throughout. As independent musicians who are always trying to be on the cusp of the edge, it’s songs like these that are keeping old listeners interested and piquing the interest of those who are going to be introduced for the first time.

Raw in sound with a diverse instrumentation, there truly wasn’t a single “negative” that we could pick out from start to finish. Listening to their 2018 record Mugshot prior to “Hotel Belfar” gave us a ton of subcontext on where we thought their overall sound might be heading, and to be honest this surpassed all of our expectations. Gritty at times, but filled with passion and love, we can say once again that this is certainly a song and a band we’ll be keeping a close eye on as they gear up for the new LP.

Lastly, we’ve done the easy part for you all and provided all the necessary links below in order for you to listen and follow along with the band. With so much on the horizon, and a ton of back discography to get through for the new listener, Canon Hill are sure to keep you occupied in the meantime. Start wherever you’d like, but ultimately get yourself to “Hotel Belfar” as soon as you can. Enjoy!
