Collaborating on a truly vibrant musical endeavor, Cam Bina and Alex Riegelman have reached euphoric heights with the release of “Waiting To Receive”. We are loving this one! Keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on these talented artists.
It was only about three months ago that we last reviewed Cam Bina’s debut single “Saturn in June”. Thankfully though, the artist has made his return in tow with a wonderful collaborator that goes by the name of Alex Riegelman. Together they’ve created a joyful single titled “Waiting To Receive” that equally reflects their vast musical inspirations ranging from Daniel Johnston all the way to Leonard Cohen. Jam packed with emotion and sincerity within the vocals, we can’t help but urge everyone out there to click the play button as soon as humanly possible.
With Cam in Los Angeles and Alex in Austin, the distance has clearly had no impact on these artists creating heavenly sounds from thousands of miles away. As a duo, Cam and Alex have managed to somehow bridge the gap between those sweet sounds of the 50’s and something incredibly modern from today. Featuring a fairly lighthearted instrumentation that keeps things feeling fresh and upbeat, for us, the heart and soul of “Waiting To Receive” undoubtedly comes from the vocals and lyricism. More often than not when we hear duo collaborations such as these, it feels as though one artist is stealing the spotlight or overpowering in some regard. The shared space that they both hold highlights their talents and only adds to the allure by the end of your initial listen.
The background of the track according to the artists takes a general look at “common wisdom in a tongue in cheek fashion”. Of course we do feel that you still have the opportunity to interpret what they’re saying, but for the most part, it’s not meant to be taken too seriously. The entire vibe of this song is an easy going acoustic jam that’s geared to put a smile on your face. It’s why we loved it and why we’re continuing to recommend it. If anything, we hope this is a jumping off point to hearing more collaborations from Cam Bina and Alex Riegelman.
