Alasdair James Dodds creates sincere beauty on instrumental, "Momentum"
Sharing his third overall and potentially best one yet, Alasdair James Dodds has skillfully released an all new single, “Momentum”. Keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this artist.
As a composer and producer, the world of sound and style is truly limitless when it comes to the music that Alasdair James Dodds is crafting up. On his latest fully instrumental track titled “Momentum”, you’ll quickly discover that it’s a generally upbeat and vibrant listen led by sustained drums and an enveloping piano. You get lost in the soul and passion of it all right from the beginning and that’s why we can’t help but overwhelmingly recommend that everyone check this out whenever possible.
Recorded over the span of just three days, Alasdair created “Momentum” in his own living room with the help of his keyboard and an expansive mind. Meant to mimic the feeling of the “light at the end of the pandemic tunnel”, he’s composed this piece highlighting funky grooves and rhythm, yet still it’s jam packed with such emotion and personality. Through five minutes even of emotive instrumentals, taking twists and turns as it pleases, the entirety of this artist’s talents are on display for the world to enjoy. Even speaking on the genre, it blurs the lines between electronic, jazz, and more, but still feels like it could be cherry picked from a film score all in the same vein.
With accolades that include many film and TV credits for his music, most importantly on National Geographic’s documentary The Race Issue, it’s no surprise that he’s branching out and creating a discography of his own. We took the opportunity to listen to both “Crowned” and “A Day With You”, and both are stunningly beautiful, but there’s something overtly personal and wholesome about “Momentum”. It’s more of an unexplainable feeling rather than something you can put into words, but whatever it is, we hope he can continue to capture that essence on subsequent releases. If this happens to be your introduction to Alasdair James Dodds’ work, you’re in for a serious treat once you hit the play button.
