Ahead of his next album, Beau Dega has released four excellent singles worth listening to

Review by Austin Sher

Officially releasing in full on November 13th, Beau Dega has slowly been releasing singles for the release of his newest album, Holy Cannoli. We’re loving what we’re hearing so far! Read along for our thoughts on the tracks released so far.

What you’re going to hear and experience within Beau Dega’s catalog thus far are a whole lot of lush guitars, crunchy drums and heartfelt harmonies that intermingle the genres of R&B, Shoegaze and 60s pop. The artist is currently based in Norwalk, Connecticut and is a 28-year-old self-taught musician. Beau Dega works alone from his bedroom in the company of his various guitars, keyboards, borrowed drums and homemade percussion instruments. Everything that you’re hearing in his music is 100% coming from him, which we think is incredibly impressive.

Leading up to the full album release, Beau Dega has released 4 singles;  "Soft Boi", "B.O.M.B.S", "it's Luv", and "I don't like rich people". In addition to these singles, we took a listen at his past discography which included his album OOF, a 20+ track album featuring unheard songs recorded between 2011 – 2017, which showcased his evolution and experimentation as a musician. OOF ranged from cassette demos to fully produced songs that had been lost to time and growing pains.

Everything that we’ve heard from the artist so far has been incredibly high quality. As lovers of Shoegaze and 60’s pop styles, he’s married the two sounds to create a truly unique sound of his own. If the release of these singles so far is any indication of how incredible Holy Cannoli is going to be, you could consider us extremely excited to hear the full and finished product.

One thing that we want to highlight is something that was already mentioned. Everything you hear instrumentally all came from one person, which in today’s day and age is so rare to come by. We envy the talent of someone like that who can hear what needs to be done or added and so masterfully creates the sounds that you’re going to hear. A serious congratulations to the craftsmanship that the artist has managed to create over the course of his musical career thus far.

Across the four singles that have been released, it would honestly be difficult to pick a favorite. They’re all different in their own ways, yet show a future cohesiveness that the album is going to feature. We’ll let you pick your favorites and are also encouraging you to reach out to the artist to give some feedback.

Our parting words here is that November 13th cannot come soon enough. Holy Cannoli will certainly be on our music radar when the day comes and we’re wishing the artist the best as he finishes up the album!
