Anna Mae excels on dreamy debut album, "For The Romantics"

An immersive listening experience from start to finish, Anna Mae has completely over delivered in all aspects on her debut album, For The Romantics. Please read on for a complete look at the record, as well as a much needed background on this emerging artist.

Working tirelessly over the past year to put together For The Romantics, the hard work has very clearly paid off for Anna Mae. Through imagery-filled lyricism, crisp and concise production, among so many other elements, she’s put her signature touch on something that has come across as special on the first listen. If for some reason this is your introduction to the artist, you’ve found her at the ideal moment, and we can’t wait for you to dig into this beauty.

For this Nashville-based alternative pop artist, she’s managed to take cues from the genre’s biggest artists and still find a niche for herself that has resulted in something like we haven’t heard. While For The Romantics certainly leans heavily on a dreamy production that makes you feel like you’re floating, the heart and soul of it all comes through in Anna’s vocals and delivery. We don’t want to take away from the light and airy feeling that this album gives off because it’s immensely impressive, but her impassioned voice and vibrant soul is the beating heart of this project by far.

The world is clearly noticing because we can see the streaming numbers rising, but it’s not the supposed singles that did it for us, rather the complete experience of clicking play and letting it run through. The art of the “album” feels like it’s becoming lost on escaping attention spans, but honestly she had us hooked within the first minute on the intro. Leading the listener in with something soft and eventually exploding towards the middle was a stylistic decision that left us with such a great taste in our mouth. Some personal favorites of ours though definitely had to have been “Hallelujah”, “Picasso”, and her immaculate closer “Trouble in Paradise”.

Not to spoil too much else, but please dive into For The Romantics knowing you’re going to come away as a massive Anna Mae fan, we know we did!
