Alexia Rev crafts a genre-diverse single, "Spin Me 'Round"
Blending together sounds and styles of the past, present, and future, Alexia Rev has completely taken us by hold with her latest single, “Spin Me ‘Round”. Do yourselves a favor and keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this emerging artist.
For those somehow out of the loop, Alexia Rev is an independent pop artist who’s been making significant waves within her respective genre. Currently based out of Los Angeles, she continues to keep us guessing on what might come next, but her newest single “Spin Me ‘Round” has shown itself to be a retro-inspired track that holds influences spanning literal decades. It’ll have you dancing, singing along, and feeling all the emotions through your listen. Without a doubt, we can’t wait for everyone out there to give it a spin.
Considering that Alexia has been surrounded by classically trained musicians her entire life, it’s no surprise that she’s taken the path she has. However, her eclectic usage of genres that spans from Funk to R&B to Classic Rock continuously makes itself seen and heard within her music. Focusing on in this newest one though, “Spin Me ‘Round” recounts a past experience of a toxic relationship and Alexia has stated, “The person brought me down and thought he could fix me like I was some sort of project for him. I got used to that instability but now I'm in a happy, stable relationship so it taught me a lot about how I don't want to feel."
While it feels like there are infinite moments of the song that we can relate to and could confidently point out as highlights, the production, tone, and atmosphere have to be given a special shoutout. With help from Grammy-nominated producer Gemini Muziq (Justin Bieber, Post Malone), they’ve helped to solidify an expansive background on this beauty. The swirling synthesizers and 80’s inspiration come through clear as day, but they’d be nothing without the dynamic range of Alexia’s voice. The immense amount of passion and emotion in her voice are one thing, but you can also sense that she’s gotten over the experience and is moving onto bigger and better things in the future.
All that being said though, there’s not a singular flaw or critique we could point out that would be valid. The song is perfection from start to finish and we’re overwhelmingly recommending a listen.
