Odia craft together a sonically vibrant LP, "Prize Fighter"

Celebrating its release today on June 3rd, 2022, Odia have just shared a sonically vibrant record titled Prize Fighter. Keep reading for a closer look into the album, as well as a background on this talented band.

Made up of Stuart Spence (bass guitar & drums), Perrine Missemer (fiddle & strings), and Faliq Auri (uilleann pipes, whistles & flute), Odia have eloquently fused together a wide array of genres spanning including Folk, Trad, World, and plenty of eletronica elements. Together though, their latest record Prize Fighter is a perfect overwhelming of the senses for a musical ride that keeps the listener involved and guessing from track to track. We can’t help but overwhelmingly recommend a listen for everyone out there.

Possibly the most wild part of this album and the band as a whole is that they’ve never met in person. Yes, this was recorded 100% remotely with each member recording, producing, and engineering their own parts. Honestly it’s like nothing we’ve ever experienced before, but you probably wouldn’t know unless we mentioned it. With that being said though, Prize Fighter has such a nostalgic yet futuristic feel about it from song to song. They’ve somehow managed to include so many elements of sound and style, but cohesively strung it all together to create that fleeting album experience that we enjoy so much.

Through so many memorable instrumental breakdowns and a high dose of energy presented through it all, we can only imagine just how well it’s going to translate in a live setting. In fact, the band are all set to meet for a show coming up at Eden Festival on June 10th. The chemistry that they’ve had remotely should surely fuse at the festival, but we’d love to be there in person to see it go down. Specific songs like the title track “Prize Fighter”, “Papillon”, and “Phaelon” are going to be wondrous, so here’s hoping that video emerges after the event.

In the meantime, we’re urging everyone to give this a listen and to crank up the volume in the process. Please check out the links below in order to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with all future releases and information.
