Millie Manders and the Shutup Bring All The Energy to 02 Academy Glasgow
Kicking off a legendary night for Ska and Punk music, Millie Manders and the Shutup absolutely commanded the stage for their opening set at 02 Academy Glasgow. Laying the groundwork for The Toasters, Skinny Lister, and Less Than Jake, we honestly believe that they brought the most energy into the mix. If you were there, you got to experience the greatness, but if you weren’t, we’ve got a full concert review and photo gallery to live through the night.
Led by Millie Manders herself and backed up by a team of immensely talented musicians, everyone was truly on their A-game that night. Although it was an opening set only lasting around 30 minutes or so, they proved to the audience that no gig is too small to show a crowd what you’re made of. As this was our first time seeing them in the flesh, we honestly didn’t know what to expect in terms of stage presence, but within the first five minutes we were instantly hooked and dancing around like complete fools. Ripping through some of their bigger singles off Telling Truths, Breaking Ties and getting the audience involved, there wasn’t a heartbeat in that venue that wasn’t racing off the charts.
Having traveled all the way from Los Angeles to Glasgow to witness the full night of music, we couldn’t have imagined a better start to the night and are thrilled that we got there early enough to see all the bands. Although the subsequent acts technically have bigger followings, it’s hard to imagine a world where Millie Manders and the Shutup aren’t quickly rocketing up the bill wherever they play. We’re not 100% sure what their following is like in the USA, but once the word spreads, we’ll undoubtedly be attending the next show. It was just that impressive!
With all that being said though, we’ve got nothing but positives to throw out about their set and even took some pictures so you can take a glimpse into what the night entailed. Additionally, all the links below lead to where you can familiarize yourself with their music, as well as follow on social media in order to keep up with what’s new. Don’t miss out!
