Xuavage Love transcends sound on long-awaited EP, "Zachary"
After four years of patiently waiting, Xuavage Love has finally given the listeners what they’ve wanted on his debut album, Zachary. Please keep reading for our positive review of the record, in addition to a background on this artist.
Focusing heavily on a swirling and immersive production from beginning to end, Xuavage Love has blown out our expectations on Zachary. Somewhere between psychedelic pop, classic trap, and glimmers of genres we can barely nail down, this is legitimately a sound like we’ve never experienced before which is ultimately the highest of compliments. The attention to detail here is enormous, which is why we’re highly recommending everyone give this a front to back listen immediately.
With a goal in its lyricism to “grow towards a place of acceptance and understanding”. Xuavage paid just as close attention to exploring deep themes as he did in crafting a unique style. Each song in particular takes you down a path and specialized moment in the artist’s life, which really makes you feel like he’s unraveling his life to you. Although this record is only 5 tracks in length, it packs a massive punch in its prowess to genre-bend, compel, and to provide insight on an artist who’s surely going to blow up in no time.
Now based in Los Angeles and having teamed up there with a local producer to put the finishing touches on Zachary, this is sincerely a collaboration of epic proportions. It’s not often that an opener of a record has such an impact, but we promise once you hear “Bad Run”, it’ll all make sense. We feel as though Xuavage has really put an emphasis on not becoming a one note artist or even a performer who’s known for “one” thing. On future records and other projects, this is now the new standard for exploration and experimentation into undocumented styles and sounds. It’s hard to prepare, but through 14 minutes of atmosphere and heavy context given, Zachary is a standout piece of art that we foresee ourselves coming back to quite often, especially because it’s one of those records that are dense and deserving of a relisten.
