Wyatt Edmondson previews upcoming album with lead single, "Dead End Town"
Sliding in at the end of 2022 with his first single of the year, Wyatt Edmondson wasted no time whatsoever infusing all the emotion into his latest, “Dead End Town”. Read on for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this talented artist.
For this Alabama native and now Nashville resident, Wyatt Edmondson has been on a complete tear as of lately, hitting his stride on everything he’s shared thus far. In this case, the artist has done it again with the fresh release of “Dead End Town”, a relatively stripped back song on the instrumental end, but absolutely bursting with soul and passion through his signature sounding vocals. The lyrics are relatable, the atmosphere feels optimistic, but honestly it’s a feel good track that we’re urging everyone to explore as soon as possible.
With the addition of his piercing harmonica and a tone setting acoustic guitar, truly Wyatt Edmondson doesn’t need a whole lot to create an attention grabbing single. Considering this is actually the lead single and first teaser from his impending record Made For The Road, we’re fully on the hype train after our multiple listens of “Dead End Town”. As it’s slated for a 2023 release, we’re already hoping more will be on the way, but this song is dense enough to give repeated plays given the context. On the background of it all, Wyatt has said, “It reminds me of me when I was feeling those first urges to move out of my hometown and head for Nashville. I knew I needed to make a change if I was going to have success. Sometimes, you can get stuck in a cycle, and I wanted to avoid that at all costs, so I moved away in search of opportunity, and I found it."
At a little under four minutes in length, a resounding highlight for us was the emphasis on the lyricism. Although the chorus might feel a little repetitive at times, the more it comes across, the more intense and idealistically powerful it feels. Wyatt’s voice alone would be more than enough for us to explore the rest of his tunes, but there’s something about the minimalism and simplicity here that ultimately makes this hit harder. Your focus is drawn in due to no outside distractors and it’s a solid piece of country-inspired music that’ll surely put a smile on your face by the end.
