WOLFNUNN explores a new sound on vibrant single, "My Mind"
On his just third overall single and first release of 2022, WOLFNUNN has completely blown us away with everything that “My Mind” has to offer. We are loving it! Read on for a closer look into the single, as well as a much needed background on this artist.
After an immense amount of success on his first two singles being featured on BBC Introducing, thankfully WOLFNUNN has made a valiant return with an all new single, “My Mind”. Blending together the sonic elements of ambient, drum and bass, that are peppered in with atmospheric vocals, you can’t help but immediately enjoy everything that’s being served up to you. On our initial listen, we were enamored, and simply cannot wait for everyone to check out this song.
Giving the world a glimpse of what’s to come as he prepares to share an EP out sometime later this year, this is the first single in which we’re experiencing a slightly different direction in what we’ve previously heard. We took the opportunity to listen to both “Make Me Feel Bad” and “Volt” and liked them a lot, but there’s a serious fresh feeling that “My Mind” holds. We haven’t been able to stop thinking about it or playing it, but it’s honestly because everytime we’ve come back for subsequent listens, we’ve managed to uncover new things within the mix. Considering that the production featured is some of the best we’ve heard all year, a sincere recommendation would be to listen to this with a nice pair of headphones, because otherwise you’d be missing on all the subtleties deep within the song.
As for the genre-bending, our brain when we hear “ambient” immediately goes to soft and ethereal. In this scenario though, WOLFNUNN has flipped that around and infused an incredibly vibrant and energetic drum and bass feel that gets your blood pumping and possibly even dancing around. The backing of it all is certainly adrenaline inducing, but the vocals do an impeccable job of bringing you down a peg and not letting things get too out of control. It’s balanced, peppy when it needs to be, and has our hype levels at an all high for more music to be released super soon.
