Willy P crafts yet another winning record, "Moon Child"
Officially released on February 8th, 2021, Willy P continues his roll of successful releases with yet another, Moon Child. We’re loving it! Read along with us for our complete thoughts, as well as a background on the artist as well.
Currently representing the music scene in Cleveland, OH, Willy P is making waves within multiple genres at the moment. Blending his overall sound between Alternative Bedroom Pop, Hip Hop, and Rap, he’s truly excelling at it all. From making music in his college dorm room to opening up for Madeintyo at Boulder Welcomefest, this artist is on the up and up.
Coming in at 13 total tracks, spanning 33 flavorful minutes, there is absolutely something for any kind of music listener on this record. Seriously, it features samples galore, a non stop flow of smooth raps, and doesn’t include a single dull spot in the front to back listen. We’ll be honest from the beginning though, we hadn’t had any prior knowledge of the artist before listening, but we’re now incredibly glad his music has come across our desks because there’s much back discography to now get through.
There’s so much to love here, starting from the opener, “The Unknown”. The artist eases the listener in with a single track that basically sums up what you can expect on the subsequent 12 tracks. It almost feels like it could be considered the overture in the grand scheme of things, however, there were moments on the record that took you to a different level of atmosphere.
For example, the first four tracks run so smoothly together, they could pretty much be considered one long song. That just goes to show you the cohesiveness of this record from start to finish. Really, when you immediately get so lost in the sound and everything that’s going around you and don’t even realize you’re a third of the way through, that’s when you know you’ve got a winner on your hands.
Now we don’t know for sure if this is the best record in WIlly P’s catalogue, because we haven’t quite gotten through our full listening yet, but we are quite confident that based on just this singular listen he’s really engineered something special here. Hip Hop, Rap, and mainstream Pop lovers can rejoice because this 100% needs to be the next album you pop on. It’s one of those records that doesn’t necessarily need a specific setting to be listened to and can really just be listened to at all times of the day. Studying, cleaning, or even pre-gaming, we recommend Moon Child.
