Vanalika opens up on empowering single, "Lonely"
Freshly released this past week, Vanalika has taken us by hold yet again with her newest single, “Lonely”. Thankfully we were able to get some screen time with the artist to discuss the entirety of the track! Watch our full interview below.
Born in India, but currently based out of Dallas, Texas, Vanalika is a singer and songwriter who is bringing her unique life perspective to her music on each and every release. Combining an upbeat 70’s throwback style that’s all set to be our summer anthem, our interview with the artist provided all the info we needed to know about “Lonely” and what we can expect next.
A highlight of our interview with Vanalika that we don’t mind spoiling is just how empowering she was not only as an artist, but a person as well. She legitimately left us beaming with a smile and a sense of hope for the future. Her carefully crafted lyrics regarding injustice against women are ever present in “Lonely”, but the actual song itself is this juxtaposition of positivity over a chill funky beat. We discussed those opposite sides of the spectrum which made for a high point in our talk.
The goal for Vanalika on “Lonely” is to help listeners address these ongoing issues in society through an easily digestible way such as her incredibly catchy music. Learning and grooving is certainly a combo we weren’t expecting, but after going through her discography, it’s exactly the type of thing we can expect going forward.
Speaking of the future though, all we can think about is a follow up to the greatness of “Lonely”. Now we’d never want to rush an artist into pushing out as much content as possible, because we wholeheartedly realize the amount of life experience and work that goes into it, but at this point we’re just begging for it. With four singles released to date, we definitely implored to see if more would be coming in the near future, but you’ll just have to watch or listen to find out.
Wrapping it all up, our conversation with Vanalika was magical and really made us giddy as we continue to listen and look forward to what’s on the horizon for this beyond talented artist.
