Once a former Miss Tennessee, Tucker Nichol has transformed herself into an R&B artist who now has just released an absolutely outstanding debut titled Too Close To Home. Shapeshifting through infinite styles and leading directly with silky smooth vocals, she’s been teasing single by single over the past few months, but to our delight the full record has delivered big. If you’re unfamiliar with Tucker in her entirety, let this be the wake up call to get into her new music immediately.
Co-written with Mary Weitz (Alina Baraz, Normani), Adam Korbesmeyer, and Jerry Lang II, everyone involved in Too Close To Home’s creation truly achieved their vision when setting out on its initial creation. Featuring an incredibly rich production and atmospheric elements from beginning to end, Tucker really rounded this piece of art out with its inclusion of deep themes being covered within the lyrics. Ultimately, Tucker is aiming to “change the stigma around emotional and mental health” by putting these topics right at the forefront of the album. She doesn’t beat around the bush in the slightest, rather makes it a recurring sentiment that perfectly forces the listener to perk their ears up and address the situation.
Although the messaging is right in front of you, it’s legitimately hard to deny the sheer beauty and uniqueness that each song holds. We particularly enjoyed the singles like “This Is Why” and “Over the Edge”, however it’s the slow burners on the record that really give everything that complete and whole sound. Clocking in at right around 30 minutes, it’s got that rare quality about it that holds your attention, provides endless entertainment, and is setting the foundation for a fruitful career going forward. From a pageant career to now becoming a respected recording artist, massive things are on the horizon for Tucker Nichol.
