Trunkie shares music video for his album closing single, "Exhausted"

Serving as the album closer on Yo, Chale! Wagwan?, Trunkie ended things perfectly with the release of his single “Exhausted”. Keep reading for a closer look at the single, as well as a background on this artist.

Based out of Northwest London, Trunkie is a multi talented rapper, singer, and songwriter that’s infused a seemingly infinite amount of styles and genres into his musical catalog. Bridging the gap between rap, R&B, pop, and beyond, this Jamaican/Ghanaian artist immaculately ended his latest album with a bang on “Exhausted”. Surrounded by resounding acoustics and a smooth flow, there’s also many cultural aspects that flow in through this production too. Of course, we’re highly recommending it and can’t wait for everyone to click the play button.

Accompanied by a live performance (linked below), Trunkie has given listeners the opportunity to see his skills up close and about as personal as you can get. For us, this song instantly embodied the feeling of intimate energy attached with an immense amount of passion and emotion through his delivery. You can see it first hand in the video, but even on the audio side, there’s a raw display of artistry bursting from his voice. Don’t get us wrong, we loved all the elements of instrumentation and influence, but you’re almost hypnotized by his words on the initial listen. Additionally, making comparisons to the rest of the album, we’re partial to this more acoustic and laidback direction. It comes through in the visual, but it’s certainly more on the relaxing side of Trunkie’s growing discography.

With all that being said though, for an artist like this that’s inspired by so much, it gives the chance for his sound to pivot in the future. New styles, tones, and moods can arise, but honestly it’s provided such an amazing starting point to a fruitful career of creating. As Yo, Chale! Wagwan? Was shared in full earlier this year, we sincerely hope that with listens to “Exhausted”, it’ll provoke the audience to start the album from beginning to end.
