Trevor Drury expertly blends genre on latest track, "Alice"
When the only complaint you’ve got about a song is that it was too short, that’s when you know it’s a good song! Trevor Drury’s latest release titled “Alice” was everything we could’ve hoped for, please read along for our in-depth look at the track, in addition to a background on the artist as well.
Born in Tucson and raised in San Diego, California, Trevor has been immersed in making and enjoying music since the young age of 8. Finding inspiration and influence from a wide array artists like Elvis Presley, Queen, and Radiohead, he’s living the life as a part time model and music producer. His existing discography is wondrous, but we think “Alice” may be his best work yet.
On a track that comes in at just a tad under three minutes in total run time, Trevor Drury has managed to grace the listeners with an immense amount of genre in one go. You’ll hear glimmers of indie rock, jazz, and contemporary alternative pop that borders the edge of retro. Considering that his debut, The Start (2016), was stripped-down piano and vocals-only, this is quite the change, but an openly welcomed one.
Garnering critical acclaim and hundreds of thousands of streams on Spotify, we confidently think that “Alice” is the best thing Trevor has put out. Not to knock the other songs, because they’re all fantastic in their own right, but there really was something special about this one. Seeing its short length was all the reason for us to keep coming back and keep playing it.
One of the best parts here is that it appears that Trevor has been consistently releasing music over the last year, which hopefully means that he’s got more in the bank ready to go. An album would absolutely be preferred, but we’re also loving these isolated single releases as well. To be honest, anything Trevor Drury that comes out, we’ll certainly be giving a listen.
Wrapping it all up though, we’ve provided all the links below in order for you to not only give “Alice” a listen, but to follow along with his every future release. We know we will be. Enjoy!
