Today We Sleep excel on latest collaboration-filled single, "Love & Violence"

Coming out in full force for only the second official single, Today We Sleep have left it all out on the table with their latest, “Love & Violence”. Read on as we take a closer look into the track, as well as a much needed background on this exciting new project.

Currently based out of Naples, Florida, Today We Sleep aren’t your typical metal band. In fact, the group is confidently led by Destin Castro, who’s only a 17 year old drummer, single handedly setting up collaborations globally to create his music. Each song plans to be different based on the musicians that are involved and for “Love & Violence”, it includes the help from Thomas Riddle (vocals), Jacob Lizotte (guitar), and Emanuel Castro (Bass/Production/Engineering). Without a doubt, we’re urging everyone out there to turn this up loud and get listening.

Ultimately the goal for Today We Sleep is to get a permanent lineup in terms of musicians, however we’re 100% on board with these collaboration-based releases. Sure it’s probably a million times more difficult, but the creativity factor is always at the forefront. Specifically on this single though, the first descriptor that comes to mind is “euphoric”. From beginning to end, the listener is hit right in the face with screaming yet succinct guitars, bombastic drums, groovy bass lines, and those vocals that are certifiably guaranteed to send collective shivers down your spine. It’s a cavalcade of beauty being directed right to your ears, and at only three and a half minutes in length, we wish it were double the time.

At its core, the song stems from sub-genres of hard rock and metal, but the genre as a whole is always going through changes. There’s a real modern feel that “Love & Violence” gives off, and considering that it’s so many separate musicians who are at the top of their craft, everyone’s primed to give their best that’s resulted in a memorable performance. Normally we’d attempt to predict what might come next from the band, but in this case, there’s legitimately no guessing which keeps the surprise at an all time high.
