Graham and the Band Upstairs chat the inner workings of debut, "Home To You" - Interview
Fresh off the release of the band’s outstanding debut single titled “Home To You”, we got the wonderful opportunity to speak with Graham Waldrop of Graham and the Band Upstairs. Please enjoy our full interview below.
Made up of Graham Waldrop (Vocals, Guitar), Jeff Dei Dolori (Guitar), Josef Bell (Bass), Zach Strum (Drums), Veronica Roman (Vocals), the band is a relatively new project, but they’re already packing a serious punch with the amount of talent that’s emanating from their sound. The debut single is titled “Home To You”, and for this Atlanta-based group, they’re fusing together a wide variety of sounds and styles that all seem to stem from Americana. Our discussion with Graham was surely eye opening, but also gave us the perfect insight into the craft and everything else we can expect to come soon.
Like so many artists of the past two years, we’ve seen a massive influx of music being created due to the pandemic. This case isn’t too different, however Graham’s songwriting skills have easily come into play and are absolutely the crux of what makes this song so great. We talked about it more in-depth, but at least for us, this song was bursting with complexity and versatility. No matter how many times you listen, it feels as though you’re experiencing something new for the first time. The initial listen had us glued to the lyricism and putting together the pieces of the story’s puzzle, whereas the second was highlighted by the diverse instrumentals creating the atmosphere and overall aura of “Home To You”. It’s as strong of a debut as we could possibly imagine and thankfully there’s a ton more on the way.
Speaking of, at the moment the band is gearing up to release their full length record titled Turning Magic On Its Heels that’s due out sometime in the summer of 2023. We can potentially expect some live shows as well, but first thing’s first is getting these tracks finished up, recorded, and out to the public ASAP. Sincerely, this is the type of music and wholesome sound that we love, so direct your attention to those links below so that you can listen, follow along, and of course stay tuned for all that awaits. Enjoy!
