The Still debut a heartfelt and sincere single, "Safer Days"
On their sincere and heartfelt debut single “Safer Days”, The Still have set a lush base for the future of their musical creation. Please read along with us as we break down our full thoughts on the track, in addition to a background on the duo.
Currently representing the music scene in Melbourne, Australia, The Still are an acoustic pop and folk duo made up of songwriter and composer Nathan Goble, as well as Sam Lawrence on lead vocals. Together they’ve put together a relatively stripped back song in feel, but the track itself is jam packed with heart and emotion. We’ve instantly come to love and are overwhelmingly recommending you all give it a listen.
Reminiscent of artists like Damien Rice, José González and Xavier Rudd, Sam Lawrence’s stunning and soulful vocals have gone ahead and stole the show on “Safer Days”. On the composition side of things, Nathan put together a luxurious sounding instrumental that has truly moved us as musical listeners. The arrangements came out beautiful in the end, but the combination of each’s talents on one lovely song are what we’re most impressed with.
While Nathan and Sam have racked up a ton of personal experience in their own adventures, them coming together and making music under The Still is something we really hope to see more of. For the lovers of relaxing and calming music that presents a pure message to the audience, this is definitely the type of music you should be diving into. Typically we feel that on debut singles, it takes a bit for an artist or band to really find their path, but to be honest this is exactly the type of sound we’d like to hear moving forward too.
As much as we wish we could listen to an album, or even an EP’s worth of songs like this, we’ll have to stay patient and hope that the two have more on the way. For now though, we’ll be playing this song over and over until we inevitably wear it out. Thankfully there’s a ton to rejoice in on just a three and a half minute track, so we have a feeling this one will last a bit.
With all that being said though, please do yourselves a favor and check out the links below where you can listen and follow along, enjoy!
