Cole Scheifele exceeds expectations on debut album, "The Hideaways"
The time has finally come! Cole Scheifele has officially unveiled his debut album titled The Hideaways and it’s seriously everything we’d hoped it would be. Please keep reading for our full look into the record, as well as a refresher on the artist.
As we’ve consistently been covering Cole Scheifele’s singles leading up to the record release, we’re thrilled that the day has finally come for The Hideaways. Not that there were any doubts in the slightest, but Cole has surpassed our every expectation on the record and we sincerely think all music lovers across the spectrum are going to enjoy this one. Filled with heart, soul, and grand instrumentation, it’s a winner.
For this young artist, The Hideaways is a coming of age record in which Cole is exploring the feeling of “being stuck and yearning for change”. With the slow rollout featuring tracks like “Company Clothes” and “Turn To You”, the breadcrumbs have certainly been left and gave everyone an idea of what was going to happen. As for the entirety of the listen from start to finish, Cole tells his story in a full uninterrupted fashion that was just packed with beauty and insight.
Cole states that releasing these songs into the world was sort of a goodbye for him in honoring all those memories, people, and places that have brought him this far in his career and we completely agree. Forming such personal songs and letting the world listen is not only a brave thing to do, but must be nerve racking given the context. As you begin the journey into The Hideaways, make sure to give an extra close listen to the lyricism and not just the compelling sounds and tones.
As for “favorite” songs, well that would just be an impossible task. What we will say is that the album opener, “The Universe”, was the blast we were not expecting in terms of opening things up. This isn’t the type of record you cherry pick singles and skip around, we highly recommend you start from the beginning and let it flow through for the ultimate experience. Now’s about the time we’re going to stop talking and point you in the right direction to actually listen. We sincerely hope you love it as much as we did.
