The Raconteurs let it rip on Spotify Exclusive LP, Live at Electric Lady
Review by Austin Sher
The newest music release coming from famed Jack White side project, The Raconteurs, is an LP exclusive to Spotify, titled Live At Electric Lady.
The 35 minute and 9 song album is absolutely jam packed with high energy, classic White riffs, and a sense of being there in the room with the group. While I don’t always appreciate releases from groups that are exclusive only to certain streaming platforms, I am exceptionally happy that I’m a proud Spotify member this morning.
This relatively unplanned release is a wonderful surprise for fans of Jack White and his longtime collaborators, The Raconteurs. The LP features tracks spanning most of the band’s discography and needless to say, it jams hard! It’s difficult to review a live album because there are certain directions that bands take in order to not play their recorded studio versions faithfully. So as for “spoiling”, we’ll skip all the surprises that are featured on the album and just talk about how absolutely amazing and necessary it is when it comes at a time like this in history.
If you were lukewarm on 2019’s release of Help Me Stranger, we can virtually guarantee that the live versions of these songs will sway you in a way of being won over on the album. I was initially not the biggest fan, but listening to select tracks on the record made me a fan. Ultimately my favorite Raconteurs album will always be Consolers of the Lonely, but that’s a conversation to be had for another time.
Speaking as clearly as possible here, if you feel the need to get some steam out or practice your sick air guitar skills, then this is the album for you! White makes it too easy to imitate when it comes to shredding, so we highly recommend trying it out for yourself. At this point in our review, we’re strongly urging those with Premium Spotify accounts to take the 35 minutes out of your day and get to listening on this beast of a Live album!
