The Phantom Friends release euphoric new single, "Can't You See"

Kicking off our 2023 on an extremely high note, The Phantom Friends’ latest single “Can’t You See” is a positive ball of energy. We are loving it! Read on for a closer look at the track, in addition to a background on the band.

Currently based out of Charlotte, North Carolina, The Phantom Friends are effortlessly putting together a wonderfully inspired synth rock sound, paired with plenty of other fun elements and styles. Their newest single “Can’t You See” was our initial introduction to the band, but they left us wanting more as we immediately vibed with the euphoric highs within the vocals, a crisp production, and outrageous instrumentation. Needless to say, we’re urging everyone to start their year off on the right foot with a listen.

Though we were immediately hit with a wave of passion and love emanating from this single, our reaction was just how anthemic and larger than life this song sounds. On the background of it all lyrically, ultimately the band has claimed it’s “about getting through to the people you love or getting through to yourself when you know there are frivolous things in the way of your happiness”. It’s an all too common sentiment, and something we may not verbalize to others, but what a fitting song to hear as we ring in the New Year and potentially set new goals or “resolutions” for ourselves. Undoubtedly there’s an optimistic edge that “Can’t You See” holds, and what better way to connect the dots of it all than to get rid of all that nagging negativity.

Putting the message aside for a moment though, The Phantom Friends truly outdid themselves in all other facets as well. As mentioned, it’s got that massive feeling about it, but it’s not hard to imagine yourselves either witnessing this live in front of thousands. Creating something that feels arena worthy is so unbelievably difficult without sounding cheesy or using cheap novelty tricks, but sincerely this song has flipped the script and brought a real genuine feeling into the mix. The vocals are dynamic, the synthesizers stay buzzing, and this band has excelled in creating a piece of art that’s got us legitimately excited for whatever the future holds.
