The Horse Puppets excel on transcendent new single, "Let It Echo"

Making a return for their first major release since 2020, The Horse Puppets are back in top form with a stellar new single titled “Let It Echo”. Please keep reading for our glowing review of the track, as well as a much needed background on the band.

Currently based out of Manchester, The Horse Puppets are an indie folk band who have just put together a mesmerizing new song called “Let It Echo”. Written by Helen Bytheway and produced by Paul Bytheway in their home studio, it’s a hypnotizing ballad that’s seriously easy to find yourself lost in. Through an expansive atmosphere and limitless boundaries, the band are marking a new era for themselves, and we sincerely hope this isn’t the last we see of them in the foreseeable future.

On the background of it all, the band has stated that they’re “drawing upon personal experience of grief during the pandemic, the beauty of life, and death”. While it certainly comes through within the deep lyricism and contextual themes, there’s such a major focus on Helen’s vocals that it’s difficult to turn your focus away from it. She absolutely feels like the star of the show in her delivery and exemplary range, but complemented with the instrumentation, that’s really where the song feels whole. The inclusion of a dramatic violin, thumping bass lines, and the overall grand feel have taken the folk genre to the next level. Honestly, this should be the new standard of what to expect going forward as it sent shivers down our collective spines during the initial listen.

In a way, “Let It Echo” has a bit of diversity to it in the sense that it’s immediate as soon as you hear it, but dense enough to come back and experience all the subtleties you may have missed. The vocals here are transcendent to the point where you could just focus on those at first and then slowly shift it all to the instrumentation. At this time, we’ll be patiently waiting to see what’s next for The Horse Puppets, but are secretly hoping it’s more just like this.

With all that being said, please go ahead and check out the links below to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with everything else that’s on the way.
