Tessa Lee pivots her sound on passion-filled single, "Could It Be?"
On her second ever single and first released this year, Tessa Lee has shared something outstanding on her latest, “Could It Be?”. Keep reading for an in-depth look into the track, in addition to a background on this talented artist.
For this Tasmanian singer and songwriter, she’s led on “Could It Be?” with heaps of vocal emotion, a restrained yet bright instrumentation, and painted a picture with her words. If you’re somehow out of the loop on Tessa Lee, this is the follow up to her 2021 debut single “Warm Orange Glow”, but we can already feel and sense the immense amount of growth in all facets over the last year. We’ve quickly come to love this one and are highly recommending everyone out there give it a listen.
Pivoting her sound a bit from the slightly jazz-influenced style we experienced prior, it might be safe to say that Tessa Lee is entering her rock era. On our initial listen, you can certainly feel and experience that her dynamic vocal range is primed to take on any genre, but there’s a specific type of attitude and cadence presented here that can’t be taught. From the opening notes, you’re simply hooked on every word that comes out of her mouth, and honestly we think that can be attributed to the stripped back feeling in the instrumentation. Nothing gets wild here, rather the backing track sets a tone and a mood for her vocals to be the star of the show. Jam packed with soul, passion, and beyond, we’re in love with the way that she’s composed this beauty.
Recorded at Rolling on The River Studios, with help from Jethro Pickett on the production, these collaborators saw a vision and completed it with leaps and bounds. Considering that this is really just the beginning of Tessa’s hopefully fruitful career, we’re partial to the idea that she continues to experiment and expand her sound. We don’t have too much information regarding future releases or what else might be on the way, but we do sincerely hope that we continue to hear what other genres and styles she’s capable of. “Could It Be?” is this ideal bending of influence and inspiration, so let’s hope it’s something along those lines.
While we patiently wait, please go ahead and check out the links below to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with all the latest news.
