Tarantula Bill craft an ideal listening experience on latest EP, "Manchego's Vices"

Following up 2020’s debut album Toola, Tarantula Bill are back with a long awaited release called Manchego’s Vices that has surpassed all expectations. Please read on for a closer look at the record, as well as a background on the band.

Currently representing the music scene in Denver, Colorado, Tarantula Bill have consistently been putting together an eclectic mix of indie pop, psychedelic rock, and ultimately dream-like tones that we’ve quickly come to love. Their latest musical endeavor is an EP titled Manchego’s Vices that specializes in a smooth production that takes the best of the genre but infuses heaps of originality for something that actually thinks outside of the box. We’ve sincerely enjoyed our multiple listens and can’t wait for everyone to give this a spin.

Structuring this record like a rollercoaster that only keeps escalating was a bold move, but one that paid off big in the end. At just five songs in length, each one builds off of the last in terms of raising the stakes in instrumentation, meaningful lyricism, and even more explosive highs. While moments and passages certainly take inspiration from a Lonerism-era Tame Impala, Tarantula Bill have still gone above and beyond in playing off those influences for something that embodies a signature sound of their own. Their debut Toola was an experience of its own, but what Manchego’s Vices does is create a whole new atmosphere while capitalizing on what worked so well in the past.

It’s truly difficult to nail down a “favorite”, seeing as though the record flows and gives off that quintessential album experience that we love so much. Sure, each track could be pulled off and playlisted for a specific mood, especially “In Time”, but the entirety of the EP listen is what makes it pop the most. Instead of having a series of isolated tracks, they’ve fulfilled a vision that comes together at the end and leaves you feeling optimistic and enthused. For the lovers of the psych rock renaissance we’re currently living in, this record is 100% up your alley and something that we already know we’ll be coming back to for years to come. Tarantula Bill have nailed it with this release, so please don’t miss out.
