Indie duo sunset + mine craft a faith-filled single, "All My Hope"
On only their third overall single titled “All My Hope”, these indie pop newcomers known as sunset + mine are already making waves with a light and airy sound. We’re loving it! Read on for a closer look at the track, in addition to a background on the band.
Made up of husband and wife, Valerie and Rocco Reptski, the duo have called themselves sunset + mine and in our eyes have gone three for three thus far with single releases. Their latest stunner is called “All My Hope” and features imagery-filled lyricism, an atmospheric production, and over the top instrumentation to put all their emotions on display. Without a doubt, we really enjoyed our multiple listens and can’t wait for everyone out there to give it a spin.
Written initially for “the funeral of a friend’s newborn baby”, the final product has become a faith-based track that leans heavily on its contextual lyricism. Kicking the song off a heavy lean into minimalism showcasing just Valerie’s serene and heartfelt vocals, the song essential crescendos into this instrumental that ends up taking center stage. We particularly enjoyed that shift as it kept us on our toes guessing and really thought outside the box for what a typical indie pop track these days has become. If you compare it to their two previous singles, “Honey Let’s Go” and “Fix You”, this one certainly feels like it’s got the legs to become an instant classic. We don’t mean to knock the others, but this legitimately sent shivers down our collective spines when the end of track guitar solo came roaring into the mix.
Considering there’s only been these three songs to evaluate, one thing is for certain, they’re off to an extremely hot start. It feels nowadays that artists in the pop genre are constantly recycling past work, but there’s a real freshness and originality that “All My Hope” holds, even given its slightly grim context. With that being said though, it’s a winner in our eyes and we’ve got to overwhelmingly suggest everyone out there dive in.
