Strat exceeds expectations on feature-filled album, "Stratosphere"

Giving listeners his second album of 2022 titled Stratosphere, Strat hasn’t missed a beat and has only improved his craft. Please read for a full analysis of the album, as well as a much needed update on the artist.

You may recognize Strat from our interview with the artist earlier this year surrounding his record Dvlpmnt, but thankfully, he’s made a quick return with something seriously special, an album called Stratosphere. Featuring a handful of artists, some of whom we’ve reviewed as well like Detroit L-O, Strat has enlisted the best yet put himself at the forefront of this dynamic and dense listen. Through outrageously catchy beats, his signature flow, and so much more, here’s another golden record to enjoy from a growing artist.

For those out of the loop on Strat, he’s a Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based rapper who leads first with his versatility in lyricism, attention to detail, and intricacies within his artistry. With his now second record released within the span of the year, our first impression would typically be to judge the quality due to the turnaround time. In this case though, he’s 100% proved us wrong and grown immensely from what he put out on Dvlpmnt. At 12 total tracks, spanning right around 40 minutes in length, he takes you on a sonic journey that not only highlights personal experiences of his own, but props up other burgeoning artists who deserve to be heard as well.

With other features that include Stevie The Vibe, Eso, Mike Steel, and Santone, they’ve certainly brought a specific type of flow to Stratosphere that continues to make Strat’s sound pop. Some personal favorites of ours include “Everything”, “Cottontails”, “Diamonds of the Night”, however don’t let our highlights get in the way of you pursuing a full listen. In fact, we plan on coming back for more just to further break down all the complexities in the lyricism. Your attention is hooked by the production and original beats, but the heart and soul lie in the words of these musicians with stories to tell.

Not to spoil much else, but we’re sincerely urging everyone out there to take the time and check out Stratosphere as soon as you can! Check out the links below to listen, follow along, and to stay up to date for more information.
