Stephen James The Artist debuts intimate new single, "Tennessee"
With his second single of 2021, Stephen James The Artist has shared his drop dead gorgeous track, “Tennessee”. Read along with us as we share our thoughts on his music, as well as a background on the artist as well.
Specializing in pop, introspective ballads, and more, Stephen James The Artist is a singer and songwriter has more than impressed us with his new single, “Tennessee”. What could definitely be considered an intimate track, can equally be described as powerful. According to the artist though, this piece of music “reflects the passion and creativity of an artist whose work transcends genre and defies simplistic characterization”.
Now we have to admit, we were a bit unfamiliar with the work of Stephen James The Artist prior to listening. With that being said though, he has absolutely blown us away with his craftsmanship, arrangements, and the sheer beauty that this song is oozing from start to finish. Reminiscent of artists like Father John Misty, Stephen has done an impeccable job of painting a picture within his lyricism, all the while keeping the other side of our brains occupied with an instrumental arrangement that would have been fine just on its own.
Described by music industry insiders as “poised to soon assume his place among today’s most influential pop artists” and a “singer-songwriter of extraordinary range and depth", we can’t help but overwhelmingly agree. It should really go without saying, but we’re just going to go ahead and recommend that the reader do themselves the favor and give a listen. There’s no way you won’t love it if you’re even slightly into music.
The point of We Write About Music is to bring attention to those who are under appreciated within the industry and we truly think Stephen James The Artist is a prime example of the type we’re looking for. There’s so much potential just within this one song, there’s really no ceiling as to how high his musical stock can rise.
Now while his discography doesn’t run too deep, as there only are four officially released songs, we’re going to hope that more is on the way soon. No rush to the artist as we know these things take time, but with two singles already out this year, we hope there’s a backlog just getting ready to see the light of day.
