Leading with his expressive vocals and an inspired instrumentation, S J Denney has continued his roll in 2022 with a new single, “I Don't Know If This Changes Things?”. Keep reading for a closer look at the track, in addition to a background on this artist.
Currently based out of Essex, United Kingdom, S J Denney is a singer and songwriter that’s been enamored with music in its entirety since a young age. Turning that love into originals of his own, the artist has been hard at it over the years building an incredibly impressive discography. On his latest “I Don't Know If This Changes Things?”, you can find him in his prime as he paints a picture with his words and infuses a great deal of beauty into it all. Without a doubt, we’re highly recommending everyone out there give this a listen.
Having been a part of bands and other projects over the years, ultimately S J Denney made the decision to go his own way with a solo effort. Specifically on this newest song though, he’s added to his repertoire a seriously diverse use of instruments that certainly give this song a whole lot of depth. Featuring his return to the baritone electronic guitar, you can also find a trumpet, flugelhorn, and more, so keep your ears peeled! With Roisin O’Hagan joining in on backup vocals, the two have simply hit euphoric highs as they balance each other out and complement one another perfectly. For us, this song shined the brightest on the vocal end even though as mentioned there’s a ton going on sonically.
On the production and mixing side of things, we also enjoyed the stylistic choice to have the vocals up front and center as this is obviously a very lyric forward piece. It encourages the listener to actually make an attempt in piecing together the puzzle of what this song is actually about. With an EP and multiple singles under his belt already this year, we sincerely hope that this is leading to something else bigger, but only time will tell for now.
