Sarah Diamond and The Soul Miners talk their 2nd single, "Doin Whatcha Doin" - Interview

Taking the time to talk all about “Doin Whatcha Doin”, we got the fantastic opportunity to speak with Sarah and John of Sarah Diamond and The Soul Miners! Please check out our full interview below.

On only the band’s second single, Sarah Diamond and The Soul Miners are already on the path to carving out a seriously special sound for themselves. Their newest track is titled “Doin Whatcha Doin” and right at the forefront features Sarah Diamond’s commanding vocals and an impeccable backing instrumentation from a talented band. Of course getting to hear all the specifics of their dynamic, how this came to be, and a look into the future was a major highlight to our conversation. Do yourselves a favor and give it a listen whenever you get a moment.

Currently based out of Florida, Sarah Diamond is at the helm as a singer, songwriter, and helping to compose the band’s music. Talking to her and her guitarist John truly gave us the insight we needed in order to wrap our heads around how “Doin Whatcha Doin” was created. On the background of it all though, the song is ultimately a major change from their debut, creating this “flirty and lighthearted tune that perfectly reflects the sound and brand of Sarah Diamond &The Soul Miners”. For us, there’s so much country rock being released nowadays that generally feels either uninspired or rehashed in some way, but where this group shines the brightest is their aim to reinvent the wheel all the while throwing in some classic motifs.

As mentioned, we spoke with the two on a handful of different topics, but what has us most excited is what 2023 has to offer. Surely we can expect more music, but it’s the evolution and potential changes in their sound that are keeping us on the edge of our seat. “Doin Whatcha Doin” has tons of pop sensibilities about it, focusing on melodic hooks, euphoric solos, and plenty of empowerment in the delivery of it all. While we patiently wait though, we’re urging everyone out there to check out this track, but to also start at the beginning with “I Got Away” too!
