Sam Pounds delivers big on double singles, “She Get It From Her Mama” and “Preacher’s Daughter”
Releasing not one, but two outstanding tracks, Sam Pounds has treated us to more of his greatness on “She Get It From Her Mama” and “Preacher’s Daughter”. Keep reading for a closer look at the tracks, as well as a much needed background on this emerging artist.
Steadily making a name for himself, especially on his recent collaborations with Snoop Dogg, Jamie Foxx, and beyond, Sam Pounds’ discography is 100% worth your time and energy to explore. Giving listeners a taste of his vast influences, he’s just delivered two dynamic singles called “She Get It From Her Mama” and “Preacher’s Daughter”. Both have their signature touches from Sam and we sincerely cannot wait for everyone out there to click the play button.
Sam was kind enough to leave us with two powerful quotes surrounding each single. He says on “She Get It From Her Mama”, “This is the song that gives praise to where praise is due. Don’t sleep on that bad girl’s mama.” On “Preacher’s Daughter”, he said, "I’m extremely excited about this song. When cutting it, I flashbacked to a few of my exes back in the South growing up in church. I was the drummer at the church and truth be told, I relived my earlier years on this one, ‘cause the girl I was always chasing was our preacher’s daughter.”
With a ton of musical influences from the likes of Little Richard, Sam Cooke, and many more, Sam Pounds has still managed to carve out a very specific niche, sound, and style for himself. On our initial reaction of both of these songs, instantly his empowering and commanding vocals come to mind, setting the tone and mood from beginning to end. It’s no surprise in the slightest that they’re turned up heavily in the mix, however we’d be absolute fools to not mention the insane instrumentation backing him up as well. For us, “She Get It From Her Mama” wasn’t quite subdued, but didn’t feel nearly as explosive as “Preacher’s Daughter” did. Both are sonically different and come out to explore differing themes, but the sheer vibrancy and emotion displayed are world’s apart. There’s a moment in “Preacher’s Daughter” where everything comes to a head and nothing else matters except the next note.
All that being said, if this happens to be your introduction to Sam’s music, we can think of no better way to introduce yourselves than with these two songs. Please go ahead and check out the links below to listen, follow along, and of course to keep up with much more on the way. Enjoy!
