Freshly released on May 1st, 2021, Ryan Shane Owen has followed up his debut record with a sophomore effort, titled Symphony for the Stereo. We are loving it! Read along with us for our full featured review, in addition to a background on the artist as well.

Based out of Canada, Ryan Shane Owen writes, produces, and performs all of his music completely independently. After listening in full, we quickly came to the realization of just how incredibly impressive that was considering the immense dynamics featured on his latest record, Symphony for the Stereo. Without a doubt, this is 100% a record we are recommending.

Blending up multiple genres that feature glimmers of deep house, disco, synth wave, new wave, glam rock, and smooth rock, there really is no end to the amount of influence you can audibly hear. After switching from mainly cover songs to more originals, Ryan Shane Owen dropped his debut record Rhapsody for the Disco, and after listening to that as well and loving it, this follow up has been a total treat.

Airing more on the side of a new age disco feel to it, this record is quite unique because it gives the dual abilities to both dance and listen to the lyrics closely. To be honest though, once you make it past the first few songs, the record is danceable no matter what. Things progress into good times for all and it’s seriously impossible to have a bad time listening here. Whether you’re a fan of the 80’s or not, Ryan has taken the best from the past and expertly fused it into a sound for the future.

Going back to the most impressive parts here, the fact that Ryan was able to single handedly put this all together is nothing short of amazing. The opener “Is There No Beauty” and other big hits like “Starry Starry Night” and “Electric Whispers” become a ton more intense when you realize that this is coming from the talented mind of one individual. It’s difficult to stress the fact of being a solo artist who’s able to put together patterns like these. The artistic direction certainly has to be tough, but Ryan Shane Owen has pulled it off with ease.

It should probably go without saying, but again, we have to suggest a listen of Symphony for the Stereo. This record is just too fun and funky to pass up.
