Gerald Slevin engineers vibrant track, "It's Your World ('Til it's Over)"
Out on April 30th, Gerald Slevin has just shared a seriously impressive indie pop track titled, “It’s Your World (‘Til It’s Over). What a song! Read along for our in-depth analysis of the track, as well as a look inside the artist and his process.
Indie pop artist and multi-instrumentalist Gerald Slevin’s released latest single “It’s Your World (‘Til it’s Over)” has immediately taken us by hold. Comparing to his previous release, “Kiss to the Future”, this single has a much more vibrant, eclectic, and colorful feel to it. It could just be the stunning single artwork, but after listening, it’s really the grandness of the whole package.
We got some important info on the track in which Slevin explained, “There’s a lot of apocalyptic stuff happening these days. A pandemic, a climate catastrophe, mass extinctions. I wanted to make a song about how these large-scale problems intersect with the small-scale level of our own personal anxieties.” He sings repeatedly in the song, “Do you know the answer, but you feel unsure? / Do you hide from the mirror? Or the knock at the door?” The chorus then pivots toward concern for humanity-at-large: “Everywhere I look I see the signs of our demise / are we gonna make it?”
As beautiful as the song sounds as a whole, once you dig in closely is where you’ll hear and extrapolate the message within. On this standalone track, Slevin has proven to us his musical prowess as a strong lyricist, but on the production side of things, he’s certainly stepped it up a notch in terms of his other releases. We gave a close listen to the previous tracks, but there’s something about this one that feels uniquely special as a whole.
We didn’t think it would be possible for the song to get any better, but with the accompaniment of the music video (linked below), a whole new level has been reached. Featuring breathtaking visuals and animations, it breathed a life into the song that was overly deserving of a visual representation. While we obviously recommend listening to the single, the music video shouldn’t be too far behind in your priority queue.
There’s really not much else to say here, other than Gerald Slevin is the real deal. Take our words of encouragement here and click all those important links below in order to stay tuned for what’s next. We have a sneaking suspicion that big things are on the way for this beyond talented artist!
