Rose White hits the mark on descriptive debut EP, "One Fourth Mark"

Leading the charge with her dynamic and powerful vocals, Rose White has served up an immensely well rounded new EP titled One Fourth Mark. Keep reading as we share our thoughts on the record, in addition to a background on the artist.

Currently based out of London, England, Rose White has highlighted her life experiences and so much more on an eclectically diverse debut EP called One Fourth Mark. Featuring a wide diversity of instrumentation that blurs the line of funk and pop, she’s cranked up her vocals in the mix to continually make a statement. As this was our introduction to the artist, we didn’t quite know what to expect, but she’s left us wanting more and it’s exactly why we’re projecting to the world that this is a mandatory listen.

With help on the production from Tommy Sigalov and recorded in Rose's home studio, this was most likely a small project, yet the final result has erupted in this larger than life sound. On the background of the album, Rose has said that she’s leaving her artistic mark in which she “talks about relationships, mental health, and life after turning 25”. Staying in the realm of relatability as listeners connect the dots within her descriptive and imagery-filled passages, it goes to show you that what you’re dealing with isn’t 100% unique. Through six total tracks that span right around 20 minutes in length, Rose immediately sucks you in and sits you down for an album experience of songs that give you a taste of her life and situations. No matter where you’re situated in the world or the life you live, we can confidently claim that she’s got a handle and grasp of post-25 life.

Putting the message aside, every other aspect of One Fourth Mark is downright divine. Of course the instrumentals and their endless grooviness come to mind as a major standout and tone setter, but wow, the hold and cadence that emanates from Rose’s voice is the clear winner. Not only does she consistently paint a picture with her words, but you hang on every line and go on an adventure with her through the rises and falls of it all.
