Resting B!tch Face make a statement on debut single, "BYOB"

Coming out with a massive bang on their debut single “BYOB”, Resting B!tch Face are making statements with attitude and aggression. We are loving it! Keep reading for a closer look into the track, as well as a background on this emerging band.

Currently representing the Birmingham music scene, Resting B!tch Face are a Queercore pop punk band that have filled us with adrenaline and energy on their debut song, “BYOB”. Made up of 7 members primarily of the LGBTQ+ community and all current students of the Academy of Contemporary Music, this new band is bringing a whole new look to the word fierce. With screaming guitar riffs and powerful vocal displays, we can’t help but overwhelmingly recommend you dig into this song immediately.

Now while it’s quite apparent if you attempt to connect the dots within the lyricism, Resting B!tch Face’s “BYOB is a “satirical look at the sitting Conservative Government's handling of the 'Partygate' scandal and Cost of Living crisis, along with its long-standing treatment of refugees and immigrants”. We think that the single artwork, which is fantastic by the way, provides a ton of context for the unassuming, but there’s no hiding the true message in the song. Obviously we know what side the band sits on, but what makes this song impactful is the way that they’ve composed the instrumentation to get that point across. They classify as “pop punk”, but this one for us fully goes into the punk side of things and fills the listener with nostalgic punk vibes that the style is really built on.

While the song is a little bit on the short side at just two and a half minutes, you can’t help but leave your initial listen feeling empowered and like something needs to be done. It’s awareness-type songs like these that will help the cause, but ultimately we hope this is setting up Resting B!tch Face for a long line of in your face rockers that feature meaningful messages. They keep it right in your face, get you hooked with their signature essence, but undoubtedly they’re all unbelievably talented musicians in their own right. We sincerely enjoyed this and cannot wait for more.
