Reese Weil taps Nef The Pharaoh for "Don't Fight The Waves" remix
On an absolutely jaw dropping remix of Reese Weil’s song “Don’t Fight The Waves”, she enlisted Nef The Pharaoh who did a wonderful job! Keep reading for our full review of the track, as well as a background on this project.
As if Reese Weil’s “Don’t Fight The Waves” wasn’t great on its own, this new remix coming from Nef The Pharaoh has seriously bumped it up to unparalleled levels. Released via Mighty Oak Records, the entire team that’s put this track together and ultimately elevated it deserve a standing ovation. While we recommend checking out the original, you should 100% check out this remixed version too.
Says Reese on the collaboration, “I've always been a fan and had a ton of respect for Nef, can't wait for the world to hear our collab”. Now that it’s out and about, there’s never been a better time to get to it. If you happen to be unfamiliar with the work of Reese Weil though, we suggest you check out her growing discography as well. She’s a classically trained guitarist from Chico, CA who began playing guitar at the young age of four. Influenced by artists like the Beastie Boys, The Beatles, Steely Dan, Tame Impala, Sublime, and Jack Johnson, her vocals tend to be the standout of all of her performances.
Speaking directly on the remix though, it’s best to check out the original and listen to them side by side to really get the full effect. For us, the real standouts were the production and how light and airy it all felt, plus the addition of Nef The Pharaoh who added his own bits of signature style to the mix as well. As long as the weather stays hot, we envision ourselves listening to this one endlessly for the foreseeable future.
Seriously though, while we can’t make it clear enough that this song is a bop, you should make sure to dive in deep to each respective artist’s discography.
