Raid the Quarry surpass expectations on larger than life LP, "Beyond These Castle Walls"
Like a shot of adrenaline straight into your veins, Raid the Quarry have surpassed all expectations on their sophomore record, Beyond These Castle Walls. Do yourselves a favor and read on for a close look into the album, as well as a background on this band.
Currently representing the music scene in Raleigh, North Carolina, Raid the Quarry have perpetually been putting together an inspired mix of sounds, styles, and genres. Embodying so much in their music, they’re consistently blurring the lines between Pop Punk, Emo, and even little glimmers of 90’s greatness as well. On their 2nd full length LP Beyond These Castle Walls, the band has sincerely gone above and beyond in creating something special and long lasting. Obviously, we recommend you crank it up and get listening as soon as possible.
Racking up a considerable amount of accolades since their origination in 2014, Raid the Quarry certainly pull from influences like Foo Fighters of Jimmy Eat World, however they still manage to impart a metric ton of originality and freshness into the mix. Beyond These Castle Walls immediately immerses the listener into what we’d definitely consider to be a cohesive listen, meaning it’s best enjoyed from front to back with no interruptions. Lyrically speaking, we’re not 100% sure on the context of these songs, but that doesn’t stop you from feeling an intense emotion and connection through the vocal delivery. Through screaming guitar riffs, inspired solos of all instruments really, and the perfect amount of “heavy’ for our tastes, we already know we’ll be coming back to this record when we need a dose of energy to get through the day.
Something unexpected during our listen though was the slightly nostalgic feeling that’s looming in their sound. It could definitely be attributed to that early to mid-2000’s inspiration that we thrive in, but it truly had us feeling like we were back in middle school getting our frustrations out through incredible music. There’s a real versatility about their sound that could honestly attract any kind of rock listener, which is why once again we have to recommend you give it a spin!
