PYXIE cranks the bass on stellar single, "Savage"

Back with her first officially released single of 2021, PYXIE has just shared her latest, “Savage”. We are absolutely loving it! Do yourselves a massive favor and read along as we share our thoughts on the track, in addition to a background on the artist as well.

Born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, PYXIE’s music creation dates back to when she was in high school submitting raps and poetry for class projects. Eventually it evolved into a puzzle-like form in which music was added and a career was born. Mashing up various genres, you’ll hear hints and glimmers of rap, funk, R&B, and a signature style of her own.

While she insists on making music based on the moods she’s feeling, all of her tracks released thus far have a certain edge and uniqueness to them. Looking at PYXIE’s discography, this appears to be the fifth released track, and if there’s one thing we noticed immediately, she’s getting better with each subsequent song. Whether it be the originality, deliveries, or the production side of things, there’s minor improvements audible on each song that are building up to something massive in the future. We can feel it.

On “Savage” specifically, the song bolts out immediately with an earth shattering bass and roaring backing beat that gears the listener up for something special. We’ll be honest, we had no prior experience in the music of this artist before listening, but with that being said she managed to win us over within the first minute. As soon as PYXIE’s vocals entered the mix and her smooth flow overtook things, we were consumed.

A high point for us was really the impressive blend of so many genres within one singular track. Hip Hop, Rap, and an alternative funk entered the mix at different points, but all never seemed out of place or overdone. We think it should probably go without saying at this point, but “Savage” ended up being a winner for us. Considering it’s the first single from the artist to see a release this year, we’re over here crossing our fingers there’s more on the way in the very near future. All of her music so far has a particular aesthetic, so a collection of songs on an EP or full length record would be much appreciated.

A recommendation we’ll make before your embarkation on “Savage” is to listen loud and proud. With a production so precise and smooth, it deserves a loud listen to really get all the subtleties through. If the walls aren’t shaking from the reverb and bass, you’re not doing it right.

All in all though, this was pure enjoyment for us. We’re beyond thrilled that PYXIE’s music has entered our lives and sincerely can’t wait for more. For now, enjoy! All things PYXIE can be found by clicking the links below, especially to stream and follow.
