Released just a month ago on February 11th, 2021, Dirtycakes have come roaring back with an all new single, titled “Gimme Some (An Ode to Craving). We got the opportunity to speak with the band in an in depth interview, which you can watch in full below.

In our latest interview, Charles Tichenor of Dirtycakes was nice enough to sit with us and discuss the finer details of their all new single. What he descried as a track that blends the best of Black Flag and Nirvana, we couldn’t help but completely agree with that statement. At just a little over two minutes in run time, “Gimme Some (An Ode to Craving)” rocks about as hard as you’d imagine it to.

It wasn’t too long ago at this point that we covered the band’s single, “Photograph”. At first listen, we absolutely loved it and were so thrilled to be able to talk a bit more in-depth about how this newest song came together. Now we really don’t want to give too much away here, because we’d obviously prefer you watch for yourselves, but we think our conversation with the artist opened up everyone’s eyes a bit into the process side of things and where exactly their future sound is headed.

While you’re at after your listen of “Gimme Some”, we think it would definitely be in your best interest to check out the rest of the band’s growing discography. They’re a fantastic blend of New York City punk merged with their now Los Angeles roots. Together the band has created a truly unique sound, but still managed to keep a vintage feel to them altogether.

With concerts on their way back, hopefully in the near future, we hope to get to a Dirtycakes show as soon as possible. Considering we’re based out of Los Angeles as well, our true hopes are that when local shows come back, we’ll be front and center. Not to get our hopes up too high, but witnessing a song like this in real life is just the kind of fun we need in our lives.
