Ahead of debut album, Bleak Psychedelia, Profe Fool drop mind-bending single, Water Bearer

Review by Austin Sher

Experimental rock/art rap project, Profe Fool, are gearing up for the release of their debut album, Bleak Psychedelia. Leading up to the release, they’ve just dropped their first single in the process, titled “Water Bearer”.

Straight out of Orlando, Florida, Profe Fool have immediately caught our attention with the debut of their first single, “Water Bearer”. Citing their references to be artists such as King Crimson, Mars Volta, Can, and more, it’s no surprise that you can so clearly hear all of those influences on the release of this song. As soon as our first listen finished, we immediately hopped back in for more.

The perfect blending of an ear dazzling guitar riff in the background while at the forefront are hard hitting rap lyrics from Amiri Brown, it’s truly a nice juxtaposition. After repeated listens, there’s really so much to digest here in just one song. We’re beyond excited to see what paths an entire album will hold. As for an official release date, it appears that’s still TBA, but we’re more than ready for it.

For how many overall influences the group mentions, it still somehow creates its own new sound. There’s so many different sounds happening at once, yet it all flows together so smoothly. In addition to the song though, the album artwork is absolutely stunning and oh so fitting to the overall mood of the song. Funny enough, Profe Fool’s lead guitarist did the editing on it. Turns out not only can he shred, but also has some pretty impressive computer skills.

Overall, we really did like what we heard and are so happy to hear more of it. It’s not often bands take massive risks on songs, especially lead singles. However, Profe Fool really knocked it out of the park on this one and we’re wishing them a huge success on the rest of their journey!
